Safety & Handling procedures:

Your firearm must be in a clearly safe condition at all times until you are on the firing point and have been given the order to load. Safe condition means - bolt and magazine removed, or bolt open, magazine removed, with breech flag clearly showing.

Do not put any kit on the firing point until told to do so.

No firearm may be loaded or fired before the siren has announced the commencement of a shooting period, nor shall a firearm be loaded or fired until the RCO has given the order to load and to fire.

Aiming or “snapping” an unloaded firearm is NOT allowed except when in the firing position on a firing point, and then only if it would be safe to fire a live round.

No firearm is to be loaded until the shooter is in the firing position on a firing point.

When loading, firing, unloading or clearing a misfire, the barrel must at all times be pointed in a safe direction towards the target strictly observing the 70 mil rule.

Misfire procedure, always keep the firearm pointing towards the target, raise your arm to get the attention of the RCO and the supervisor, wait 30 seconds before safely unloading the round with your face and hands well away from the breech – do not attempt to re use the misfired round.

The firearm must be unloaded by every shooter at the conclusion of each shoot or stage, or on the order of the RCO. The firearm and/or magazine of every shooter is to be inspected and proven “clear” by the supervisor or the RCO before he/she gets out of the firing position and quits the firing point, and before anyone goes forward of the firing point.

Ear defenders must be worn by firers and spectators at all times during firing.

All non-firing and non-supervisory personnel are to remain behind the firing point

Novice shooters are to shoot with an experienced supervisor who will be responsible for that novice shooter maintaining all the specified safety rules.

Commands
If I shout "STOP! STOP! STOP!" you must IMMEDIATELY CEASE FIRING if there is time the command CLEAR YOUR RIFLE will be given. If the situation requires urgent evacuation of the firing point the command DOWN ARMS AND CLEAR THE FIRING POINT will be given.

If you see an unsafe situation shout "STOP! STOP! STOP!" to halt firing and to attract my attention.

End of detail

The final shooting detail will ensure that the firing point is clear of all empty cases and other debris and the range is left tidier than found.
